Privacy Policy

Bantay is designed to keep personal safety information on your device and under your control.

Last updated August 6, 2026

Summary

Bantay does not require an account and does not operate a cloud tracking profile. The app’s core records are stored in its private local storage. Information leaves the app only when you use a device action—such as opening an SMS composer, placing a call, importing audio, or exporting data.

Information stored on your device

Bantay may locally store your chosen display name, age range, trusted contacts, emergency message, safety sessions and check-ins, notification schedules, permission status, theme and accessibility settings, and Safety Call caller profiles.

Personal Safety Call recordings are copied into Bantay’s private application documents directory. Bantay stores stable relative paths for those recordings and reconstructs their full device location only when needed for playback or management.

Location

When you grant permission, Bantay can request your foreground location to prepare coordinates for a safety session or emergency message. Bantay does not provide continuous live tracking or a remote map dashboard. A map may be displayed when internet access is available; otherwise the app can prepare raw coordinates.

Microphone and audio files

Microphone permission is requested only when you choose to record a personal Safety Call clip. Imported audio is selected through your device’s document picker. Recordings and imported copies remain local unless you deliberately move or share the original file outside Bantay.

Contacts, calls, and messages

Trusted contacts are entered by you and stored locally. Bantay prepares phone, SMS, and location content for device-supported actions. Your operating system may ask you to confirm a call or message. Bantay does not promise silent or automatic SMS delivery.

Notifications and device status

Bantay uses local notifications for safety timers and check-ins when you permit them. The app may locally record whether relevant permissions are granted so it can explain available fallbacks. Notification delivery may be affected by operating-system settings, battery restrictions, or device policy.

Analytics, advertising, and third parties

The current Bantay product does not require advertising, behavioral tracking, or a Bantay cloud account. If future releases add a service that changes these practices, this policy and the applicable store disclosures will be updated before that service is used.

Your choices

You can deny optional permissions and use the fallbacks shown by Bantay. You can edit or delete trusted contacts and voice clips, clear individual sessions, or use the in-app data-management controls to remove locally stored information.

Children and families

Bantay is family-friendly, but guardians should help younger users understand emergency actions, trusted contacts, and device permissions. The app does not intentionally ask for an exact birth date during onboarding.
